Shuttlewood eyeing NW200 debut in 2019 roads assault

BEN Shuttlewood is planning a trip up to the Causeway Coast this May as he plots his North West 200 debut with new-look machinery.

Heading back to the throngs of road racing for 2019, the Triumph rider has upgraded to a new Supersport machine which he hopes will help him push on and bag more rostrum finishes.

A regular at Oliver’s Mount, Shuttlewood ventured over to the Isle of Man for the Southern 100 last year, where he chalked up a podium finish in the 600 B race.

And that wasn’t the end of his island adventures. He went on to make his Manx Grand Prix debut where, despite a DNF in the Newcomers A scrap, he bagged a finish in the blue riband Senior MGP with a 110mph lap to boot.

Shuttlewood says he’s definitely heading back to the Isle this season for more fun on both the Billown and Mountain Courses, but this time he’ll be sporting a new-look trumpet.

“We have a new bike this year from JJR, the new Triumph 675 Supersport, which is an upgrade from our amazing road race bike from 2018,” he said.

“Our focus this year is back on the roads with the addition of the North West 200. Then it’s back to the Southern 100 and the Manx GP.

“We’re all excited to get going and hopefully we can have another successful season with more podium finishes.”
