Oliver’s Mount Spring Cup: Sidecar sweep as Crawford and Hardie dominate

In News, Oliver's Mount, Roads, Sidecars

LEE Crawford and Scott Hardie continued their unbeaten streak at Oliver’s Mount today with another pair of sidecar wins to complete their hat trick.

The Team ARC boys, who have won every outfit race at Scarborough since the 2017 Gold Cup, destroyed the field on day two of the Spring Cup with a combined winning margin of more than 23sec as they became just the second squad in history to go under the 1:54 mark.

It was an easy victory for Crawford and Hardie in today’s opener as they stormed 19sec clear of Steve and Matty Ramsden, clocking a 1:53.792 – just under 0.3sec off Nick Crowe and Mark Cox’s 13-year-old lap record – before cruising to the finish with over 16sec to spare as John Lowther and Matthew Rostron bagged third.

In the final outfit race of the weekend, it looked to be a different story as the Ramsdens led by 0.263sec on the opening lap, but it was short lived as Crawford and Hardie soon took back the reins and clawed back a full three seconds by the end of lap two, crossing the line with time to spare.

Back in the battle for third, it was all action as Bruce and Ashley Moore led Lowther and Rostron , with Conrad Harrison and Andy Winkle right on their tail before the Moores won the rostrum battle by a mere 0.036sec.
