Wirral 100: Christies sweep Sidecars at Anglesey

SAM and Adam Christie kicked their 2018 sidecar campaign off in winning fashion as they dominated the bumper outfit grids this weekend at Anglesey.

Nearly 20 crews rocked up to the Wirral 100 Motor Club’s season opener, most having their first outings of the year as some look to prepare for the British F2 Championship, which gets underway next weekend at Croft.

After scorching to pole position ahead of fellow long-wheelbase men Lewis Blackstock and Patrick Rosney, reigning Wirral 100 sidecar champs the Christies led every lap of race one on their way to victory in race one.

Blackstock and Rosney crossed the line 2.6sec off the win while Alan Founds and Jake Lowther, in a short outfit, took third a further 26 seconds adrift to make it an all-LCR podium.

And it was a repeat podium in the second race on Sunday as the Christies made it two from two with another show of three-wheeled dominance.

After finishing third in the 600cc Cup class of the RKB F1 British Sidecar series, the Beverley brothers are now heading for pastures new as they prepare for an assault on the World Sidecar Championship, with select British rounds along the way.
