TEAM Todd’s Davey Todd and Sam Tipper have stormed to the top of the Virtual TT standings in dominant fashion after the second night of action this evening.
With the fastest individual time of any racer and gamer duo respectively, Todd and Tipper look like they could now be within spitting distance of the championship.
While Team Coward’s Jamie Coward and Kenny Lam had taken the the provisional lead after the opening round on Saturday, Team Martinez’s Aaron Hislop opened action tonight playing as none other than his late dad Steve Hislop aboard the legendary Norton 588.
Hislop was looking strong before clipping the wall at the exit of Glen Helen, and he lost it again between Ginger Hall and Ramsey before a final spill at the entry to The Nook, but he still managed to bring it home in 18min 12sec (124.3mph).
His team-mate Raul Torras Martinez, playing as himself aboard a Yamaha, rocketed through the first two sectors and was up 11 seconds on Coward’s leading time between Glen Helen and Ballaugh, but his lead was cut by five seconds as he crashed at Cruickshanks.
And while the Spaniard binned it again just as he climbed up onto Glencrutchery Road, he still managed to cross the finish line with a 16min 38sec (136mph) lap in the bag, putting he and Hislop ahead of Team Coward by 23sec.
Honda Racing’s Todd was up next as he and Sam Tipper were up next on the virtual course. Tipper took the controls of a James Hiller-mounted Quattro Kawasaki Superbike and the Manxman’s gaming experience looked to be coming in handy as he flew through Glen Helen just two seconds outside Martinez’s time.
Although Tipper’s 16min 45sec (135.1mph) wasn’t quite enough to steal a top two spot from one of the racers, it was good enough for third overall and fastest non-racer time so far.
Todd hit the course to round out tonight’s virtual battle on the Honda Superbike and showed his prowess on the game with a 22sec overall lead at Ballaugh and despite a big crash at Hailwood Heights and another accident at the exit of Hillberry, he crossed the line in a lightning quick 15min 44sec (143.9mph) as he and Tipper took a stronghold on the top spot overall.
Overall Leaderboard (aggregate)
- Team Todd – 32:29
- Team Martinez – 34:50
- Team Coward – 35:13
- Team Scaysbrook – 43:50
