Ulster SBK: Double for Seeley on day one at Bishopscourt

In News, Ulster SBK

ALASTAIR Seeley picked up where he left off last weekend with a dominant double at the Ulster SBK’s Bishopscourt round today.

Following on from his masterclass at Kirkistown for round one less than seven days ago, the former British Supersport champ was on blistering form again this afternoon as the championship rolled back into action.

A win in the Supersport race followed by another in the big bike class on the first day of the two day meeting run by the Mid Antrim Club makes him a firm favourite for tomorrow’s feature races, the Neil and Donny Robinson trophies.

The Supersport race pace was as hot as the scorching County Down weather with Seeley’s IFS Yamaha R6, McAdoo Kawasaki Racing’s Adam McLean and fellow road racer Michael Dunlop scrapping it out for the win.

Hardly a bike length separated Seeley and McLean for the 10-lap encounter with Michael Dunlop following in a close third and at the flag only 0.359sec separated them. Jason Lynn was fourth on his JMcC Racing Kawasaki as another road racer in Derek McGee completed the top five.

Seeley also had a flag-to-flag win in the first of the weekend’s three Superbike races with Ali Kirk scoring the runner-up spot some three seconds in arrears, as Lynn picked up third after McLean slid off at the last corner on lap six of 10. Michael Sweeney and McGee bagged fourth and fifth.

Two more races in each class will be run tomorrow with the feature Donny and Neil Robinson trophies being presented to the winners of the second Supersport and Superbike races.
