UK Clubsport to launch Honda Monkey Challenge in 2021

In News

BOSSES at UK Clubsport can today reveal the launch of a brand new series for next season as they announce the Honda Monkey Challenge.

Set to run at every single club and road race weekend across Britain, the championship will be aimed at both youngsters and oldsters who are looking for low-budget fun on a one-make platform.

And after Honda reveamped its classic minibike in 2018, UK Clubsport editor Zoƫ Burn admitted it was the obvious choice.

“I’ve always been a believer in only riding bikes I can touch the ground while sat on,” Burn said. “And when I saw the new Monkey, I thought ‘surely there isn’t a better platform for racing than this’…

“We are going to keep things as simple as possible and run them at only full-sized circuits and road races with no modifications whatsoever. Mirrors, headlight, chrome, knobby tyres, they all stay on.

“Who knows, you might even see me on track with my elbows out…”

The inaugural Honda Monkey Challenge will kick off with a one-day shootout on Thursday April 1, 2021 at Santa Pod Raceway before moving to Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire the very next day.

From there, the series will run at all club races and both national and international road races.

In the spirit of fairness, the champion will not be decided by a conventional points system, but rather by public vote.
