DAVEY Todd has been thrown a lifeline for 2021 as he teams up with Wilson Craig Racing to tackle Oliver’s Mount.
The rising star will take the reins of a Honda CBR600RR when action returns to Scarborough for the Spring Cup next month.
Todd looked set to sit out the entire 2021 season after a shock announcement earlier this year revealing his split from Honda Racing and lack of a ride.
But the link with Wilson Craig could put the former IRRC champ and North West 200 winner in the hotseat for the entire year, the team has hinted.
“I am really excited to be joining Wilson Craig Racing for the Scarborough Spring Cup,” Todd said.
“It’s a local event to me and I’ve not had a lot of chance to race there so I’m excited to be going with a good bike underneath me and a good team behind me.”
Team manager Darren Gilpin also admitted his elation with Todd’s signing.
“We are greatly excited to have Davy onboard with us for the Scarborough Spring Cup event, and I know the whole team are looking forward to be working with Davy,” Gilpin added.
“Davy’s results over the past couple of seasons have been nothing short of incredible, and it’s good to have someone with his pedigree on one of our Supersport machines at Scarborough next month”.
Before this year’s TT and North West cancellations, former MotoGP rider Chris Burns was announced as one of Wilson Craig’s international roads riders for 2021.
