ZAK Corderoy kicked off his 2020 campaign with three wins from three in a dominant show to lead the Thundersport GB 600 Elite ranks.
The former Aprilia Challenge champ took victory by a combined margin of more than 28sec to stamp his authority on the club’s middleweight class ahead of a Superstock 600 assault.
While he snagged pole position 0.336sec clear of James Hind, who was almost half a second ahead of Sportsman runner Stephen Thomas, Corderoy was quickly eclipsed by Hind as last year’s 600 Elite runner-up soon pulled two seconds clear.
But after chipping away at the gap, Corderoy snatched the lead back with five laps remaining and stretched a gap of more than 3.2sec at the flag, leaving Hind to second while Aaron Silvester fended off 2018 champ Dan Frear for third. In the Sportsman battle, Thomas had an easy win with Gareth Cunningham and Luke Burnett in a distant second and third.
Hind grabbed another clean getaway in Sunday’s opener, but this time it took Corderoy just three laps to lever him aside and pull ahead, cruising to the chequered flag with more than six seconds to hand over Hind while Silvester pipped Frear for third as Thomas bagged another Sportsman win in third.
Corderoy powered to a hat-trick with ease in the final race of the weekend, leaving the pack nearly 19sec behind as he stormed to victory. And after Hind dropped back from second early on, it was Arnie Shelton who slipped ahead of Frear to bag second.
