Sunflower Trophy: Irwin and sponsors donate £4000 to William Dunlop’s family

BSB star Glenn Irwin and his sponsors are donating £4000 to William Dunlop’s family after his Sunflower win today.

Before the weekend, Irwin pledged that if he won he would donate his prize cash to William’s partner Janine and their two young children.

After a dominant two days in the Supertwin class with John Burrows’ BE Racing team, he took two wins – the first over Dan Cooper with Eunan McGlinchey third before beating Jeremy McWilliams by a mere 0.133secs in the second race. McGlinchey was once again third.

And not only has the likeable Northern Irishman collected £400 in prize money to give to William’s family, his sponsors have risen to the challenge and done the same.

“I’m delighted to announce I am donating £4000 to William Dunlop’s young family,” he said. “After pledging to donate my prize fund of £400, nine of my fantastic sponsors all agreed to do likewise, with all of their logos squeezed onto John’s bike.”

Irwin’s sponsors who each chipped in £400 are: fonaCAB, EARS Plc, Silicone Engineering, BLRC, MET Healthcare, MTA Components, Rapid International, Fekin Irish Whiskey and Techdrive.
