ULSTER SBK bosses have revealed that the Sunflower Trophy Race Event will be removed from the championship this year.
Club chiefs announced this morning that the Hillsborough and District Motorcycle Club had made the decision to remove the annual scrap from the USBK series.
As a result, the final round of the Championship will be at St Angelo on 5 October, which is being promoted by Enniskillen and District MC.
Reacting via social media, he said: “This is a sad decision. It used to motivate me when I raced at home to mix it with the lads across the water lads to get the points we wanted.
“Superbikes get more track time in every championship in the world, why wouldn’t everyone follow suit?
“Like most domestic/clubman level championships most riders struggle to make ends meet. If the meeting is now not a necessity for championship position I can see many riders in various classes saving their dosh.
“I hope I’m wrong and that it works out. Superbike classes still need the most time, most often riders across the water and teams will need the extra time to get dialled into a new circuit.
“The fans come to watch the big bike races everywhere.”
