TIM Reeves and Mark Wilkes stole the first outfit win of the Southern 100 as they beat Alan Founds and Jake Lowther in the Ace Hire Sidecar battle.
The winning duo, equipped with an ex-Ian Bell machine, emerged victorious after a four-way fight for much of the race.
Reeves and Wilkes rocketed off the line to lead the pack as they stormed off the line, but the two Founds outfits weren’t far behind with Holden and Cain right on their tails in fourth.
The four outfits soon broke away from the pack as Reeves and Wilkes soon came under fire from the Founds and Lowther, but there was nothing between the top four crews as 0.852sec separated them as they hit the halfway mark of the reduced four-lap race.
Founds and Lowther squeezed up the inside of Reeves and Wilkes at Cross Four Ways and looked to be on for victory, but the former world champ out-dragged Founds on the way to Church Bends and hit the chequered flag with just over 0.4sec to spare.
In the battle for third, Pete Founds and Jevan Walmsley pipped Holden and Cain to the line by a mere 0.170sec.
