Southern 100: Dean dominates to take another Solo Championship

In News, Roads, Southern 100

ROAD racing star Dean Harrison was unstoppable in taking another Billown win this afternoon, taking another Southern 100 Solo Championship ahead of Ivan Lintin and Davey Todd.

From lights to flag, the Bradford ace was in command and had a healthy lead all race as he cruised to a comfortable victory.

Pole-sitter Harrison launched into the lead from the word go, but he quickly had newcomer Davey Todd for company as the Cookstown Burrows Engineering rider slotted into second ahead of Ivan Lintin.

But the Southern 100 rookie was nudged back to third as Lintin slipped into second, while Harrison settled into the lead by 0.8s after the first lap while Rob Hodson, James Cowton, Michael Evans and Adam McLean jostled just behind.

Silicone Engineering’s Harrison continued to stretch a gap ahead over Lintin and Todd, but Manxman Evans was making his way up the order and just after the half-way mark, the Wilcock Consulting BMW man up to fourth and taking a gander at a rostrum finish.

Cowton eventually found his stride and made his way up to fourth as Evans fell back, but despite a late charge he couldn’t quite pip Todd for the final podium spot.

Harrison, meanwhile, was unstoppable in taking a commanding lead over Lintin to defend his Solo Championship title.

“None of these lads are slow, I had pit boards at the start finish straight but you’ve gotta ride really hard around here,” he said. “I’m over the moon and have to say a massive thanks to the team – they’ve been spot on all week. It feels great.”
