SILICONE Engineering Kawasaki’s Dean Harrison powered to his third Supersport win of the week after controlling this afternoon’s Bettridges Car Sales 600 Challenge race.
The Bradford ace led lights-to-flag after a trademark lightning start, bringing his 209 Southern 100 win count to five and his total tally to 23 – third overall behind Joey Dunlop on 31 and Ian Lougher on 32.
Harrison was gone as the lights went out, but the fight behind heated up as Michael Sweeney held second over Jamie Coward with Nathan Harrison and Sam West in tow.
But Coward got by Sweeney on lap two to take over second and soon pulled 2.7sec clear of the Irishman.
The PreZ Racing rider nibbled into Harrison’s lead as he brought it back from over five seconds to 4.2 with three laps to go and stole a further second back as he began the penultimate lap.
But Harrison clocked the quickest lap of the race to keep his advantage as he crossed the line for Supersport win number three of the week while Sweeney followed them home for third.
