S100 podium boosts Shuttlewood ahead of Manx GP debut

In Manx Grand Prix, News, Roads

BEN Shuttlewood says he’s raring to go for his maiden Manx Grand Prix appearance after his recent silverware haul at the Southern 100 Road Races.

And while he’s been keeping busy in his build-up to the MGP this year, the Triumph rider says next month’s Mountain Course races are his main focus of the season.

Shuttlewood has been spotted competing on No Limits and Wirral 100 club grids this year, but admits that his podium in the Corlett’s Trophies Senior Solo Founders 600cc/1000cc B race at the Southern is what’s given him a boost ahead of the Manx.

With eyes already on the Isle of Man’s blue riband event, the Ron Haslam Race School instructor wants to make his first go at the 37.73mi course count. He’s even recruited TT rider Frank Gallagher to his squad in a bid to increase his chances.

“As a newcomer, I want to be well prepared for the Manx as it’s my main focus for this year,” he told UK Clubsport. “My main aim is to try to make some good progress with the ultimate goal of being ready for the TT in the future.

“A third place at the Southern 100 has put us in good stead for next month. I’ve teamed up with Frank Gallagher, who is guiding me and spannering for me, so I’m pumped for it and can’t wait to get out there.”
