Oliver’s Mount Gold Cup: Supersport double for Johnston

In News, Oliver's Mount, Roads

ASHCOURT Racing’s Lee Johnston powered to a Saturday clean sweep in the Supersport class today as he took both wins over Dean Harrison.

But unlike the earlier race this morning, the second scrap of the day was plain sailing for the Ulsterman after earlier red flags shortened proceedings from eight laps to four.

Johnston took the lead from the word go with Cowton Racing’s Dom Herbertson just 0.4sec behind at the end of lap one, as Harrison and Mike Norbury tucked in behind.

As Herbertson dropped a second off the lead, however, Harrison took advantage and levered the Geordie aside to take over second place as he began hunting down Johnston.

The Yorkshireman sliced a full second off his deficit on the final lap, but Johnston’s gap was too much to overturn and Dafabet Devitt’s Harrison had to settle for second for the second time today as Herbertson took a lone third, while Hind got the better of DC’s Norbury to bag fourth.
