Latest Wolves Transfer News

Due to the poor financial situation at the club, Wolverhampton Wanderers have not been particularly active on the transfer market this summer. The only significant arrival has been that of Matt Doherty who joined as a free agent from Atletico Madrid. On the other hand, key players like Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez bid farewell to the Molineaux. The lack of investments in the squad is what caused previous coach Julen Lopetegui to leave just before the start of the season.
However, with mere days left before the transfer window shuts down, the Wolves transfer news have intensified. There are several players who could join the ranks of Gary O’Neil, although it is not excluded that he loses another regular starter too.
List of Possible Wolves Arrivals
Since the Wanderers have sold more players than they’ve brought in this summer so far, it is no surprise that the latest Wolves transfer news is dominated by potential arrivals.
Santiago Bueno
Apparently O’Neil wants to reinforce his backline and Santiago Bueno from Girona would serve as a great addition to the squad. Wolves have won the race against Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest, Everton and Sheffield United and will complete the move for around £8.5 million, it is claimed.
Santiago Bueno is currently recovering from an injury so he's yet to debut in the 2023/24 campaign. However, the 24-year-old showed his worth in the previous seasons with Girona as he was a fixed starter for the Catalan team.
Enso Gonzalez
A signing meant to strengthen the attack is Paraguayan youngster Enso Gonzalez who is reportedly already on his way to Molineux to complete his medicals. The 2005-born winger made his debut for Libertad in 2022 and has since then accumulated three goals and two assists in 39 appearances. He has even played in the continent’s most prestigious competition – Copa Libertadores.
Transfermarkt values Enso Gonzalez at around £1.6 million but it is said that Wolves will complete his signing for a total package of £5 million.
Nico Elvedi
Nico Elvedi is another defender that has been linked with Wolves. The 26-year-old apparently wants to leave Borussia Monchengladbach and the German's side asking price has been set in the region of £10 million. The Wanderers will be able to afford Elvedi's arrival after certain departures have been completed.
Nico Elvedi is an experienced centre-back, he represents Switzerland internationally, and can also play on the right. He's been a regular in the Bundesliga since 2015.
Adam Wharton
An under-radar Wolves transfer news has been the potential signing of Adam Wharton from Championship side Blackburn Rovers. The 19-year-old Englishman is viewed as an option for the Wanderers first team despite his young age, and his abilities on the ball have earned him comparisons with the likely-departing Mateus Nunes, although he plays more deeply. The 2022/23 campaign was Adam Wharton's first at the senior level, and he recorded two goals and two assists in 22 appearances for Blackburn. He also started the new season as a regular starter at Ewood Park. The potential transfer fee remains unknown, but Transfermarkt values the young midfielder at around £3 million.
Habib Diarra
Despite a contract until 2027, Habib Diarra is looking to leave Strasbourg. Wolves are one of the teams competing for his signing, along with the likes of Burnley, AC Milan, Napoli, AS Roma and Wolfsburg. The French club demands a sum in the region of £17 million for their 19-year-old midfielder.
Despite his young age, the versatile Diarra was a regular for Strasbourg in Ligue 1 last season, making 29 appearances and contributing with three goals and three assists.
Tommy Doyle
Manchester City’s young midfielder Tommy Doyle is expected to join Wolves for £5 million, with the Citizens keeping a 50% future sell-on clause. The 21-year-old was originally expected to enter the deal for Mateus Nunes but it appears like his move will be registered as a separate one.
Doyle spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Sheffield United in the Championship as he recorded four goals and seven assists in 38 matches for the Blades.
List of Possible Wolves Departures
While not as numerous as the Wolves transfer arrivals news, the potential departures from Molineaux should not be overlooked because the Wanderers may lose even more key players this summer.
Matheus Nunes
Matheus Nunes will get his move to Manchester City after going as far as to skip training in order to force his way out. Reputable sources report that the Citizens will pay Wolves around £51 million including add-ons for the Portuguese midfielder, as he’s already agreed personal terms with the Premier League champions.
Nunes arrived at Wolves only last summer but became an undisputed starter immediately, going on to finish the year with two goals and two assists in 39 matches.
Jose Sa
Nottingham Forest are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper after missing out on Dean Henderson, and Jose Sa is said to be one of the options they like. However, the departure looks rather unlikely as the 30-year-old keeper was said to be in advanced talks with Wolves over a new contract just a few days ago.
Jose Sa has been Wolves' number one ever since his arrival in 2021.
Boubacar Traore
Boubacar Traore played on loan at Molineux during 2022/23, and this summer, his move to Wolves was made permanent for £9.5 million. The 22-year-old Mali international completed just 11 appearances, though, as he missed a significant part of the season through injury.
Even when fit, Traore was not a key player for the, and with Borussia Monchengladbach knocking, the departure seems feasible.
