Liverpool have so far had it very easy in the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League, winning all of their three matches to date while scoring 10 goals and conceding just twice. On Thursday, November 9, the Reds will be facing Toulouse away from home, and in case of a victory, they will guarantee themselves a place in the knockout rounds. The match will kick off at 6:45 pm local time.
However, the French club will also look to win at least some points at home as they risk falling behind in the race for second spot. However, their recent form – as you will see in our Toulouse vs Liverpool tips – does not favour them.
Liverpool win to nil
Liverpool will be going into the match on Thursday following a surprising 1-1 draw with Luton Town on the weekend. In all fairness, though, the Reds deserved to win that game based on the amount of scoring opportunities produced, they simply did not take advantage of them.
So, for the players to redeem themselves and perhaps pick up their confidence, they need a perfect match against Toulouse, both defensively and offensively. The match at Anfield between the two finished in a 5-1 win for Klopp’s boys and that conceded goal left a bad taste in the mouth. The answer to all that is a confident win and a clean sheet on the road in the return leg.
Toulouse have little to offer since they have a much weaker squad and are on a terrible run of form – the Violets have lost their three most recent games. The odds on Liverpool winning this game to nil stand at 2.75 on Bet365.
Darwin Nunez to score anytime
Darwin Nunez had a slow start to the 2023/24 campaign with the Reds but has improved significantly in recent weeks. To date, the Uruguay international has recorded seven goals and five assists in 15 appearances for Liverpool.
Darwin has been especially prolific in the UEFA Europa League where he has two goals and two assists in three matches. Unlike in some of the Premier League matches, the striker has been a fixed starter for Klopp in the European competition.
Nunez scored and provided an assist against the Violets at Anfield and we expect him to net again on Thursday, with Bet365 offering 2.10 odds on him scoring anytime during the match.
If you want to go with this part of our Toulouse vs Liverpool tips, though, it is best that you check the lineups for the match before placing the bet to make sure that the Uruguayan will play from the start. He played 90 minutes against Luton and Klopp may decide to give him a break.
Under 10 corners
In the match at Anfield, Liverpool controlled the ball 63% of the time. In the upcoming match, we expect the ball possession to be distributed in a similar manner.
The thing about matches where one team dominates possession is that there is not a large amount of corner kicks. In the previous game between Liverpool and Toulouse there were eight corner kicks, with a similar scenario likely to repeat on Thursday. Bet365 gives 1.83 odds on under 10 corners.
Finally, we should say that there are little incentives for Liverpool to score five like they did in the previous game. A win by two or three goals should be enough. It will be much more sensible to control the ball and thus preserve their energy instead of attacking relentlessly with a home clash against Brentford awaiting the Reds on Sunday.
