Netherlands vs France Tips and Predictions

The most important match of UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying Group B is going to take place on Friday, October 13 as the Netherlands will host France at Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam. The kick-off is scheduled for 8:45 pm local time.
Besides it being two great national teams going against each other, the match will also be important for the final standings in Group B. Les Bleus are currently in first place with 15 points after five matches while the Oranje are in second with nine points and one game in hand. However, Greece is tied on points with the Dutch, which we will take into account in our Netherlands vs France tips.
Both teams to score? Yes
As we implied above, the match will have tremendous importance in who qualifies for Euro 2024. While France comfortably top the group, the Netherlands cannot really afford to drop points as they risk Greece overtaking them in the standings.
For this reason, we expect Ronald Koeman’s men to insist on taking the game under their control and try score as early as possible. This will leave their backline exposed, and from their five conceded goals in four matches, we already know that the Oranje is not the most defensively-sound team.
France are yet to concede a single goal in the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying campaign but all good runs must come to an end, and the Netherlands – through the likes of Xavi Simons, Memphis Depay and others – may be the first to break that clean sheet streak. Meanwhile, Bet365 gives 1.73 odds on both teams scoring.
Over 2.5 goals
While we – in our Netherlands vs France tips – expect both teams to score, the match on Friday is unlikely to end in a 1-1 draw. Instead, we think that there will be at least three goals, with Bet365’s odds on over 2.5 goals standing at 1.90.
It bears repeating that the Dutch do not have the best backline, and their 4-0 loss to France in March showed just that. The 2018 World Cup champions, with their incredible attacking line containing Kylian Mbappe, Olivier Girioud, Ousmane Dembele and others have scored 11 times in five matches. It is difficult to imagine the Netherlands keeping a clean sheet against them.
The group standings aside, the Netherlands should be highly motivated to get their revenge against France, and that’s why we expect an attack-oriented approach from Koeman. Whether they will get the result remains to be seen, but we can at the very least expect a high-scoring game in Amsterdam.
Kylian Mbappe to score anytime
And speaking about scoring goals, who is more likely to get on the scoreboard than Kylian Mbappe? Bet365 offers 2.25 odds on the Paris Saint-Germain forward scoring anytime during the match against the Netherlands.
In the expected match scenario where the Dutch play with a high defensive line and are focused primarily on attack, Mbappe will have a lot of free spaces to run into once France gets the chance for a counter. He already scored a brace against the Oranje earlier this year, he knows that weaknesses to exploit.
Besides, this is the perfect opportunity for the 24-year-old to improve his goal tally, as he is currently the joint top scorer in Group B with four strikes. Mbappe, with 40 goals for Les Bleus, is also in the running to become the top goalscorer in the history of the national team. At present, the first spot belongs to his teammate Olivier Giroud who has 54 goals.
