The 24th round of Ligue 1 will see the leading PSG coming to Stade Louis II to face Monaco, who is currently running third. Parisians are running smooth in the championship and the disintegration of the monstrous Neymar-Mbappe-Messi trio seems to be painless in terms of internal championship at least. The last time PSG lost in a Ligue 1 match happened to be in mid-September against Nice (2-3). Since then, the team had only lost in the UEFA Champions League to Newcastle (4-1) and Milan (2-1). Monaco, on the contrary, can’t please their fans with stability in their game, rotating wins, draws, and loses, which eventually cost them their second league spot and pushed back to competition for the vacant Champions League spots. Despite the difference in class over the seasons, PSG repeatedly struggles at away games against Monaco - in the last three Ligue 1 matches at Stade Louis II, Parisians lost all three of them.

Monaco vs. PSG Preview

Monaco Preview

Monaco’s season can indeed be called unstable, since throughout the months, there has been no consistency in Adolf Huttter’s team build-up. While Monaco is inventive in attack, with Takumi Minamino, Ben Yedder and Alexander Golovin creating chances (44 goals in 23 games), the team looks awful in defence with one of the highest conceding statistics in the Ligue 1 (34 goals in 23 matches). In the last round, Monaco lost 2-0 advantage over Lens and managed to score a decisive goal only in 90+2 minutes thanks to a Minamio strike. This inconsistency brought down the team to the third place and theoretically can downside it even further, given that the competition for the Champions League spots are dense, with the 5th placed Lille is only 3 points away. Thus, Monaco has to find stability in its game as the crucial part of the season is looming.

PSG Preview

PSG looks decent in the domestic championship despite dramatic reshuffles of the team during the summer. Despite the seemingly imminent departure of Kylian Mbappe at the end of the season, he is still determined to make the best out of this season, leading the scorers table with 21 goals. PSG drew with Rennes in the last round, but given the 11-points gap from the second place there are no signs of worry for the capital club. However, it will be interesting to see what Luis Enrique has in mind amid the visit to Stade Louis II in the lights of the unfavourable statistics there for PSG. In the first round, PSG effortlessly won 5-2 and has all the chance to show similar results in away match.

Betting Tips for Monaco vs. PSG

PSG Draw No Bet

There is an enormous difference in class in the current situation for both teams. Indeed, PSG can lose concentration given their advantage in the league, as it was in the last round with Rennes (1-1), but the derby with Monaco is one of the most important matches in France for the last seasons. Moreover, given the unfavourable statistics at Monaco’s turf, both players and the coach are ready to turn this page and secure a win or at least a draw on Stade Louis II. Unibet gives 1.56 for this Monaco vs. PSG prediction.

PSG Total Goals Over 1.5

Given the amount of goals scored for PSG (54 goals in 23 matches) and outstanding form of Kylian Mbappe, Marko Asensio, and Ousmane Dembele, the pressure on Monaco’s defence will be massive. In its turn, Monaco suffers from weak defensive play and does not know how to play in Jose Mourinho-styled bus-parking defence. The first-round match (5-2) has already shown the shortcomings of Monaco’s ability to defend, and PSG is eager to exploit it once more. Monaco vs. PSG odds for this outcome, as defined by Unibet, are 1.71.

Kylian Mbappe to Score at Any Time

Kylian Mbappe is a leading goalscorer in Ligue 1 with 21 goals already and is still a main star in the league, despite this season most likely to be his last at PSG. Whether he aims at breaking the all-time Ligue 1 goalscoring record (44 goals in one season from Josip Skoblar) or the amount of this award received (currently 5 times, among Carlos Bianchi, Delio Onnis and Jean-Pierre Papin), his name has all the chances to be on the scoresheet. Unibet gives 1.78 for this Monaco vs. PSG tip.
