Manchester United achieved a respectable finish last term and reinforced the squad with the likes of Mason Mount and Andre Onana during the summer. Despite this, their start to the 2023/24 campaign has been far from perfect, as they’ve recorded two wins and two losses in the Premier League so far.

Brighton have done better in this regard, leaving for the international break with three wins and one loss behind their backs. The two teams will be fighting for a finish in the top four this season, and on Saturday, September 16, they are set to face each other at Old Trafford. The kick-off is scheduled for 3 pm local time.

Although we expect an entertaining match – as you will see in our Manchester United vs Brighton tips – the winner is hard to predict.

Both teams to score? Yes

In line with our expectations of an entertaining game this Saturday, we believe that both Man United and Brighton will score. William Hill offers 1.44 odds on this event.

The reasoning behind this is based on the numbers Brighton have shown so far. The Albion have the best attack in the league, scoring 12 goals, but are rather shaky at the back. Roberto De Zerbi’s men have failed to keep a single clean sheet in the four matches they’ve played so far, conceding six goals.

Manchester United’s numbers are a bit surprising – the Red Devils have conceded seven goals and scored just five, all while keeping a clean sheet in the opening match against Wolves. However, Brighton’s attack is far superior, so we believe they will manage to put at least one past Andre Onana.

Over 2.5 goals

Since we expect both teams to score, we will go further in our Manchester United vs Brighton tips and say that there will be at least three goals in Saturday’s match at Old Trafford. William Hill’s odds on over 2.5 goals stand at an encouraging 1.44.

We’ve already said that both teams have shown their defensive fragility in the opening matches. Now we should also add that there are great attacking threats on both slides. The Red Devils have Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes with both registering one goal and one assist each so far. As for De Zerbi, he’ll be relying on the likes of Kaoru Mitoma (one goal, three assists) and Evan Ferguson (four goals) to lead the attack. Ansu Fati is set to make his debut for the Albion, so he should be motivated to start with a goal too.

Both score no draw

While we do expect a goal fest at Old Trafford, it is much more difficult to predict who will come out as the winners as it will be a match that can go both ways. However, we believe that a draw is the most unlikely result, and William Hill gives 2.05 odds on the both score no draw line.

We do not see a draw is this match because Manchester United are desperate for a win following their underwhelming start to the 2023/24 Premier League campaign. Ten Hag will definitely send his boys to attack Brighton’s goal from the first minute, which will leave a lot of spaces to be exploited at the back.

So, it will be either that Man United outscore Brighton or that the visitors’ counter-attacks prove more effective. If the score is level towards the end of the game, Man United will be forced to push higher up, and that should result in a goal on either side.
