The first Merseyside derby of 2023/24 is upon us, with Liverpool set to host Everton at Anfield on Saturday, October 21. The kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 am local time.

Going into the match, Liverpool seem to have the upper hand as they have looked better at the start of the Premier League campaign. Besides, they have also won their last two home matches against the Toffees.

However, in our Liverpool vs Everton tips, we also have to take into account the latest international break and the fact that the Reds have had a more bloated calendar so far.

Liverpool to win to nil

Liverpool have had a very strong start to the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, so far recording five wins, two draws and one loss. The Reds currently sit fourth in the table with 17 points. Everton, meanwhile, find themselves on the opposite side of the league table in 16th, following their record of two wins, one draw and five losses.

Considering this imbalance of power, we expect the victory to go to the home side on Saturday. However, we are willing to go a step further in our Liverpool vs Everton tips and say that the Reds will win the match to nil. Bet365 offers 2.62 odds on this line.

The reasons for this are quite simple. First of all, Everton have scored just nine goals this league season so far, three of them coming in the recent win over Bournemouth. While Liverpool do not have the best defence in the league (one clean sheet so far), their efforts should still be enough to stop Sean Dyche’s team.

Under 3.5 goals

Despite us being confident in a Liverpool win on Saturday, we do not necessarily expect a high-scoring game. Bet365 offers 1.80 odds on under 3.5 goals between Liverpool and Everton.

As we highlighted above, the teams will only be coming after an international break and many of the players won’t be at their fittest. Moreover, Liverpool have had a very busy schedule so far and will continue playing twice a week in the coming months.

For these reasons, we expect Jurgen Klopp to rotate his squad a bit and tune down the pressing to save the gas for some of the upcoming matches. Everton, with Dyche’s defensive approach, will likely park the bus from the very first minute and only look to hit the Reds on counter or from set pieces. Thus, more than three goals in the match at Anfield seem unlikely.

Mohamed Salah to score

One name we expect to see on the scoreboard on Saturday is Mohamed Salah. The Liverpool forward has been in top form this season, contributing with five goals and four assists in eight league matches so far. The odds on him scoring anytime past Everton stand at 1.95 on Bet365.

The Toffees will not leave too much free room to run into at the back, but Mo has proven that he can operate well even in tight spaces. Besides, if Dyche’s men somehow concede a penalty kick, it will be Salah stepping up to take it.

On top of that, Salah has a decent record in head-to-head matches against Everton, with five goals and one assist in eight matches. In the upcoming Merseyside derby, the 31-year-old should look to add to those numbers.
