Juventus vs Napoli Preview

Partially due to off-the-pitch issues, Massimiliano Allegri could not guide Juventus to a finish inside the top four in Serie A last term. However, the Bianconeri have been much better in 2023/24, and on Friday, December 8, they get the chance to prove just that in a home clash with title holders Napoli. The kick-off is at 8:45 local time.

Napoli, on the other hand, will very unlikely be able to defend their title this season. Following a poor start to the campaign, the Azzurri have already changed managers, which will be a point of interest in the Juventus vs Napoli prediction.

Juventus Preview

Only having domestic competitions to worry about, Massimiliano Allegri has finally brought Juventus back to playing in the conservative and pragmatic way that won him five Serie A titles with the Old Lady in his first stint at the club.

Juve are currently placed second with 33 points after 14 matches, just two points behind Inter Milan. Their record includes 10 wins, three draws and one loss.

With nine conceded goals, they have the second-best defence in the league, although the 22 scored goals is not quite up to par with the competitors. We will keep this in mind in our Juventus vs Napoli tips.

Napoli Preview

Their title charge in 2022/23 was a heroic feat with Luciano Spalletti widely regarded as the mastermind behind it. The Italian coach left over the summer, though, and the Azzurri are now a shadow of their former selves.

Rudi Garcia was incapable of building upon the success of his predecessor and was expectedly fired in November. Ex-coach Walter Mazzarri has returned for a second spell at Napoli but his record so far includes a win over Atalanta and two losses, against Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

The visitors sit fifth in Serie A with 24 points and a record of 27 scored and 16 conceded goals. Given their recent form, the Juventus vs Napoli odds are expectedly not in the Azzurri’s favour.

Betting Tips Juventus vs Napoli

Both teams to score? Yes

We praised the hosts’ backline above in our Juventus vs Napoli prediction but we still do not expect a clean sheet on Friday. We will give our explanation shortly but, in the meantime, the odds on both teams scoring stand at 1.80 on Bet365.

Whereas Juve have conceded just nine goals in 14 matches this term, their recent games have been less successful with regard to defensive security. Thus, the Bianconeri have failed to keep a clean sheet against Cagliari, Inter Milan and Monza in back-to-back games.

Napoli have the third-best attacking output in Serie A and now look even more dangerous with Victor Osimhem back from injury, that is why we believe in their chances to score on Friday. At the same time, they are unlikely to keep a clean sheet either, as Juve has scored in every league match in 2023/24 to date.

Under 11 corners

Nevertheless, we do not expect the most exciting game in terms of scoring opportunities. Juventus are a very pragmatic team and will not shy away from parking the bus at home, especially if they manage to score an early goal.

In contrast, Napoli will want to redeem themselves after the 3-0 loss to Inter Milan at home and there is not better way of doing that than by beating the second-placed team in Serie A. However, their attack is simply not as fluid as it was under Luciano Spalletti. So, while they may retain possession for the majority of the game, that is unlikely to result in a big number of shots and thus corner kicks.

The match will likely resemble that between Juventus and Inter Milan from back in November. Although that game ended in a 1-1 draw, there was just one corner kick that day. Bet365 offers 1.53 odds on under 11 corner kicks on Friday.

Number of Goals in Match – 2 or 3 goals

Finally, we will go as far as to predict the exact number of goals in our Juventus vs Napoli tips – between two and three. Bet365 offers 1.95 odds on this line. And for the record, the odds on over 2.5 goals stand at 2.07.

While we do expect that both teams will score on Friday, we can’t imagine a full-fledged goal fest. Since the Azzurri have a key UEFA Champions League match next week, it is unreasonable going all out away against Juventus. As for the home side, they will be more than happy with a narrow in at home.

Perhaps one team will get the advantage in the end, perhaps the game will end in a 1-1 draw. However, this bet will also be a winning one in case of a 2-0 or 3-0 score in either side’s favour.

There were between two and three goals in Juves three most recent matches and we expect this trend to continue. For Napoli, this is true about their two latest Serie A games.
