Erik ten Hag has seen the Manchester United owners put a lot of trust in him ever since he arrived at Old Trafford in 2022. For example, the club sided with the coach in his conflict with Cristiano Ronaldo and have invested a lot of money in players which the Dutchman specifically asked for, like the arrivals of Andre Onana and Mason Mount this summer.
Ten Hag won the EFL Cup in 2022/23 and finished third in the Premier League. However, the start of the 2023/24 campaign has meant one disappointment after another for the Red Devils. With Man United sitting 10th in the league and following two consecutive defeats in the Champions League (including a home loss to Galatasaray), pressure is mounting on the 53-year-old technician. And we should also note that the coach’s conflicts with the squad have not ended, with Jadon Sancho recently being separated from the squad due to personal disagreements with Ten Hag.
Thus, it is no surprise that many Man United fans are calling for the dismissal of Ten Hag already, although there have been no credible rumours in the press related to the club’s plans regarding the coach.
Nevertheless, the Erik ten Hag sacking odds have increased significantly over the past few days and now stand at 5.50 on Paddy Power. However, we should specify that this is part of the ‘Next Premier League manager to Leave’ line, not a separate event.
List of Next Premier League Manager to Leave Odds
With 5.50 odds on Erik ten Hag’s sacking, the Man United coach is second on the list of next Premier League manager to leave. Only Paul Heckingbottom from last-placed Sheffield United ranks above him.

|Erik ten Hag||5.50|
We should keep in mind that the next international break starts on October 9, giving clubs the perfect opportunity to make managerial changes because the incoming manager would have some time to settle in. Man United’s last game before the international break will be the home clash against Brentford on October 7. After losing to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford last weekend, anything but a win may mean bad news for Ten Hag.
List of Next Man United Manager Odds
Similarly, Paddy Power offers odds on the next Man United manager, with Zinedine Zidane ranking atop. There are other interesting names on the list too.

|Roberto De Zerbi||8.50|
Zinedine Zidane has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid in 2021. As per reports, he wanted to coach France but Les Bleus decided to stick with Didier Deschamps after he took them to a second consecutive FIFA World Cup final.
The Frenchman could be a good appointment for Man United due to his experience and adaptability, as well as the fact that he already worked with Raphael Varane, Casemiro and Sergio Regulon during his time at Santiago Bernabéu. In Zidane’s case, his three Champions League titles with Real Madrid speak for themselves.
Julian Nagelsmann being on this list with 6.00 odds suggests that Paddy Power needs to update this manager special. The 36-year-old coach was a free agent not so long ago but has recently accepted Germany’s offer and is now expected to coach the DFB-team at least until after the UEFA Euro 2024.
If there indeed will be a job opening at Old Trafford, it is difficult to imagine Nagelsmann resigning from the German national team in order to accept a move to the Premier League. However, the 36-year-old does have the tactical prowess to turn things around at Man United.
Roberto De Zerbi
Roberto De Zerbi is another coach that has mesmerised the neutral fans through his proactive, high-intensity football he has instilled at Brighton. Last season, he achieved a historic 6th-place finish with Seagulls and qualified them for UEFA Europa League football for the first time ever.
The issue here is that De Zerbi is currently employed, and there are little reasons to believe that he would leave the Albion mid-season. He has a contract with Brighton until 2026 and the club should do everything in their power to keep this gem of a coach.
Another coach with Brighton on his CV is Graham Potter. It was the Englishman that brought the Seagulls back to the Premier League and made them a must-watch team, although they finished mid-table at best under him.
Potter is currently on the job market as he left Chelsea in April. It was his first experience at a top club and it didn’t go well, but the Blues’ recent performance suggests that Potter wasn’t necessarily the main issue. Nevertheless, this could be a risky appointment for the Red Devils.
Even more riskier may be the potential arrival of Michael Carrick despite him being a club legend. The former midfielder is currently in charge of Middlesbrough in the Championship, with his team sitting 16th in the league table. In fact, Boro were in the relegation zone just a few weeks ago, but they managed to climb out following a three-match winning streak.
Carrick attracted the fans’ interest last season when he brought Middlesbrough to a 4th place finish, even though they missed out on Premier League promotion. He also has experience as an assistant coach at Man United under José Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and interim coach at Old Trafford in 2021.
