Celtic vs Motherwell Preview

The Scottish Premiership is set to return from the international break, with one match to look forward to being the clash between Celtic and Motherwell. The game at Celtic Park will kick off at 3 pm local time on Saturday, November 25.

The Hoops have been incredible in the league since the start of 2023/24 as they are unbeaten in their 13 matches. Brendan Rogers’s men will look to continue their push for the title with a win over the Well.

As you will see in our Celtic vs Motherwell prediction, the visitors are just the perfect victims as they are one of the worst teams in Scotland based on recent form.

Celtic Preview

Sitting first in the league standings, Celtic have solid chances of defending their Premiership title in 2023/24. The Bhoys are struggling in the UEFA Champions League and have already been eliminated from the Scottish League Cup. In the local league, however, they have been impeccable.

Rogers hsa led his team to win 11 matches and drawn two more, as Celtic currently boast an eight-point advantage over rivals Rangers. With 34 goals scored and seven conceded, they have the best attack and second-best defence in the Premiership.

The only issue that may play against the home side in the Celtic vs Motherwell tips is the international break, as some of their players are bound to be tired.

Motherwell Preview

The Well are arriving to Celtic Park in the worst form imaginable. In their last five Premiership matches, Stuart Kettlewell’s team recorded three losses and two draws. Last-placed Livingston aside – who have lost all five matches – this is the worst result in the league.

Motherwell were great at the start of the 2023/24 campaign when they won three and drew one of the opening four matches. It has been downhill since then, accumulating just two points in the subsequent nine games.

While getting a point away against Celtic may be too much to ask, Motherwell should at least try to keep their goal secure. With 21 conceded goals, they have the joint-worst defence in Scotland.

Betting Tips Celtic vs Motherwell

Celtic to win to nil

Celtic will want to return from the international break with a win, and Motherwell seem to be in too poor of a position to stop that from happening. In our Celtic vs Motherwell odds, we don’t just expect the home side to win, we believe it will be a victory to nil. Bet365’s odds on it stand at 1.83.

There is little doubt that the Hoops have the superior squad in all positions across the field. Add to that their second-best defence in the league, and it looks unlikely that the Well will get as much as a goal at Celtic Park.

If we were to take the head-to-head matches, Celtic have conceded in their past three matches against Motherwell. The latest clean sheet came in October 2022 when the Bhoys won the Scottish League Cup encounter by four goals. Rogers’ men will certainly want to improve their head-to-head record.

Over 3.5 goals

Another thing we predict in our Celtic vs Motherwell tips is loads of goals. At least four, to be exact. Bet365 offers 1.90 odds on over 3.5 goals on Saturday.

If we were to revisit the head-to-head record, the last time there were four goals in a match between the two sides was Celtic’s aforementioned 4-0 triumph in the Scottish League Cup. What is noteworthy, though, is that Motherwell have scored in four of their five matches against the Hoops, although only once did it bring them any points.

In any case, there exists a chance that the visitors will score – in which case the previous Celtic vs Motherwell prediction would not come true – but we still see the home side adding at least three goals. Either this, or Celtic repeat their 4-0 win (or even better).

Over 10 corners

Since we predict a goal fest at Celtic park, another thing that goes hand in hand with lots of scoring opportunities is a high number of corner kicks. The odds on over 10 corners are at 1.83 on Bet365.

To back it up with stats, we can look at the two games that Celtic and Motherwell already played this year, in April and September respectively. In the first case, there were 16 corner kicks in the match as the Well parked the bus and were successful in getting one point on the road. In the second case, there were exactly 10 corners as Celtic got a narrow 2-1 win at Fir Park.

Since our expectation is that Celtic will want to return with an imposing win from the break, it is reasonable to expect a high number of shots and thus corner kicks. The Bhoys should be motivated to redeem themselves in front of their fans after being kept to a draw the previous time they hosted Motherwell.
