Neither Brighton nor Ajax have started the UEFA Europa League too well. The Seagulls have so far recorded one loss and one draw and sit last in Group B, while Ajax are third following two draws.

While the chances to advance to the knockouts are not completely gone, both teams need a win on Thursday in order to remain in the running, as group rivals Marseille and AEK Athens will be facing each other at the same time.

In our Brighton vs Ajax tips, we will reflect more on the importance of this match for the two sides as well as their recent form. The match is scheduled to kick off at 8 pm local time on Thursday, October 26.

Both teams to score? Yes

While both teams have struggled at the start of the 2023/24 campaign – Ajax more so than Brighton – we cannot say that their matches were not pleasant to the eye of a neutral fan. Their goal difference illustrates this point the best.

The Seagulls have scored 22 and conceded 18 goals in nine Premier League matches so far; they also have a record of four scored and five conceded goals in the UEFA Europa League. Ajax, meanwhile, scored 11 and conceded 16 goals in seven Eredivisie matches, and their UEFA Europa League record stands at four scored and four conceded.

While the visitors will be led by incoming caretaker manager Hedwiges Maduro on Thursday, it is unlikely that he will have improved their defence in such a short amount of time. Thus, an ultra-attacking approach on both sides with both teams scoring looks like the likeliest scenario. Bet365 offers 1.66 odds on it happening.

Over 3.5 goals

Building on the previous part of our Brighton vs Ajax tips, we will go on to predict a goal-fest at Falmer Stadium. Bet365’s odds on over 3.5 goals stand at an attractive 1.90.

We have already discussed that the two teams know how to attack but are less effective at stopping their opponent from scoring. This usually results in high-scoring games, and this claim is backed up by stats. For example, there were over 3.5 goals in three of Brighton’s and three of Ajax’s last five games. As they are due to come head to head, it is reasonable to expect a similar turn of events Thursday.

And in case you think that four goals in the match between Brighton and Ajax is too optimistic, there is also the option to bet on over 2.5 goals with 1.33 odds.

Both to score and Brighton win

As surprising as it may sound, both Brighton and Ajax are on a five-match winless run across all competitions. However, we believe that this difficult spell will end for the Seagulls and they will get their first UEFA Europa League win in their history on October 26.

At the same time, we also believe it likely that the Dutch giants will score at least one goal, and that’s why the line we are suggesting is both to score and Brighton win. Bet365 offers 2.37 odds on it.

While it is true that both sides are on a run of poor form, we have to admit that the level in the Premier League is higher than in the Eredivisie, which would suggest that Brighton is generally a better team than Ajax. They also have the superior squad, with the likes of Kaoru Mitoma and Ansu Fati in top conditions despite the team’s struggles. This advantage should be reflected in the final scoreline.
