Al Nassr vs Damac Tips and Predictions

Saudi Pro League is set to return from the international break and one match to look forward to is the clash between Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr and mid-table Damac. 

Although there seems to be an obvious gap in class between the two teams, we will try to highlight in our Al Nassr vs Damac tips that there is more about this match than meets the eye. For one, Damac have won their two previous games while Al Nassr left for the break with a surprise home draw with minnows Abha.

The match is scheduled for Saturday, October 21, with the kick-off at 6:00 pm local time.

Both teams to score? Yes

While Al Nassr have been one of the best teams in the 2023/24 Saudi Pro League – as evidenced by them sitting third in the league standings – the team coached by Luis Castro is not the most secure defensively. Thus, they have conceded 12 goals in nine matches so far, failing to keep a clean sheet in any of their previous five games.

Damac, meanwhile, have a surprisingly decent attack with 15 goals scored to date. Certainly, the team led by Cosmin Contra can score at least once past Al Nassr despite playing away.

While both teams may indeed score, it is very likely that Al Nassr will get the win in the end. The home side are heavily involved in the title race and currently sit just four points away from league-leaders Al Hilal. As for the visitors, Al Nassr may still be viewed as an important match due to the prestige of facing off against such players as Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and others. At the same time, a loss won’t be catastrophic for Cosmin Contra’s side as they would still likely continue mid-table.

Our reasoning behind it is rather simple: Al Nassr will have a lot of their key players tired after the international break. Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Aymeric Laporte and Marcelo Brozovic were all called up by their national teams and will carry some fatigue against Damac.

While Al Nassr’s class may be enough to beat Damac, Luis Castro will likely instruct his men to go low-energy mode once the team is up ahead. They have many games left to play in the season, including in the AFC Champions League, so it makes little sense to waste all their energy on a mid-table club.
