AC Milan and Torino had very different starts to their 2023/24 Serie A campaigns. While Stefano Pioli’s men confidently beat Bologna 2-0 on the road, Torino could not break the deadlock against Cagliari at home and the game ended in a goalless draw.

On Saturday, August 26, AC Milan and Torino will face off at San Siro, with the kick-off scheduled for 8:45 pm local time. The two sides played three matches against each other last term (2 wins for Torino, one for Milan) but those games were no goal fests. In our AC Milan vs Torino tips, we will take that into account.

Under 2.5 goals

As we mentioned above, AC Milan and Torino played three games last season, twice in the league and once in the cup: 2-1 for Torino, 1-0 for AC Milan, and 1-0 for Torino again (after extra time). We expect a cautious approach from the two teams on Saturday with the main battle expected to take place in the middle of the park.

Torino, despite finishing only 10th last term, had the fifth-best defensive record in the league with just 41 goals conceded in 36 games, and it will be senseless for Ivan Juric to undertake a radically different approach this weekend. Milan have the firing power to get past the Bulls’ backline, though. Oliver Giroud and Rafael Leao are still there from last season, and they’ve also brought in Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze over the summer.

But even against Bologna they couldn't score more than two, so Bet365’s odds on under 2.5 goals in the game seem plausible.

Both teams to score and result – No, AC Milan win

To put it bluntly, we expect AC Milan to beat Torino to nil. Bet365 offers 2.25 odds on this event, which is definitely on the riskier side, but we’ll try to explain the reasoning behind this part of our AC Milan vs Torino tips.

First, AC Milan are everyone’s favourites going into the match due to their better form and squad. Second, Torino can set up a decent defence at San Siro but they will unlikely to be able to get on the scoreboard – they couldn’t score even a home against Cagliari and created under 1.00 xG (expected goals). And third, Milan will want to win their first home game of the season, but a loss at San Siro won’t be catastrophic for Torino.

So, a marginal win for the home side may be an acceptable scenario for both teams.

Over 9 corners

Due to Torino’s solid work in defence, AC Milan will have to try their luck from unobvious shooting positions: tight angles, long shots and so on. This, in turn, may result in a big number of corner kicks in the match, either after saves from Torino’s goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic or deflections off defenders. The same is true for the visitors who, looking to hit the Rossoneri on the counter, will be forced to take rushed decisions instead of searching for a better shooting opportunity.

In their opening games of the season, both AC Milan and Torino registered a large number of corner kicks, six and eight respectively. They can certainly combine for more than nine corner kicks in the game on Saturday, especially if the score remains level towards the end of the match. With 2.10 odds from Bet365, the bookmakers do not rule it out either.
