AC Milan and Lazio both finished inside the top four last season, but their starts to the 2023/24 Serie A campaign couldn’t have been more different. While the Rossoneri sit second, tied on points with league-leaders Inter Milan, Lazio are 12th after losing half of their six league matches to date.

On Saturday, September 30, the two teams will face off at San Siro. The kick-off is scheduled for 6 pm local time. In our AC Milan vs Lazio tips, we will highlight the home side’s strengths and reflect on the weaknesses of Maurizio Sarri’s team.

AC Milan win

Lazio have been terrible in terms of results this season, losing three league matches, drawing one and winning two. We should also add that one of those wins was the 2-1 victory over Napoli away from home, in which the final scoreline is not reflective of what actually happened on the pitch. The Eagles have struggled to build a solid defensive block which has led to eight conceded goals and just one clean sheet. At the same time, Lazio’s attack has brought them seven goals only.

AC Milan, meanwhile, have won every match in the Serie A so far but for the Milan derby. They have the second best attack with 13 goals, as the additions of Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek has meant a step forward for Stefano Pioli’s team.

On Saturday, the Rossoneri should find the means to overcome a chaotic Lazio. Bet365 gives 1.73 odds on an AC Milan win.

Over 2.5 goals

Bet365 offers 2.00 odds on over 2.5 goals on Saturday. And while a high-scoring game is not exactly what you expect to see from AC Milan vs Lazio tips, here are our arguments in favour of such an outcome.

First, Milan are not the most defensively-sound team despite sitting so high in the league table – they have conceded eight goals so far and kept just two clean sheets. So, it is not excluded that Lazio will score at San Siro too. Second, the Rossoneri have a formidable attacking trio – Rafael Leao (3 goals, 1 assist), Olivier Giroud (4 goals, 3 assists) and Christian Pulisic (2 goals, 1 assist) – that should be able to capitalise on Lazio’s defensive mistakes. And finally, both teams played midweek and also have Champions League matches next week, rotations and accumulated fatigue will take its toll on both backlines.

Over 8 corners

Continuing with the same line of thinking, a game with a large number of scoring chances should also mean an increase in the amount of corner kicks. Mike Maignan and Ivan Provedel are two great goalkeepers, so they will definitely palm away some of the shots coming towards their goal. Besides, there should be balls deflecting off defenders and going out for corner kicks too.

There were exactly eight corner kicks in AC Milan’s recent 3-1 win over Cagliari, but since Lazio are a more offensive team, that number should be higher on Saturday. The Eagles cannot afford to lose and will hope for at least a draw, looking to score from every chance they get, even from outside the box. But that will also leave their defence exposed, and the Rossoneri will definitely try to take advantage of it. Bet365 offers 1.83 odds on over 8 corners.
