ULSTERMAN Adam McLean has inked a deal with the by Team IMR team to contest next season’s international road races.

The rising star has been snapped up by team boss Ian Moffitt, and is set to pilot a BMW S1000RR in the Superbike and Superstock classes – along with an ex-Ian Hutchinson Yamaha R6 in Supersport races – at the Isle of Man TT, Northwest 200 and the Ulster GP.

He also plans to enter in selected Irish National road races with his new machinery, as well as continuing to receive the support of Roy Hanna Motors in the Lightweight class.

The 21-year old has proved himself as one of Ireland’s most exciting new stars over the last two seasons, and this year won the coveted Newcomers Trophy at the TT after finishing 18th in the first Supersport scrap.

He has bagged a string of strong results across the roads and in the Irish series and is now a podium regular at Oliver’s Mount.

“I’m really looking forward to working with by Team IMR in 2018 and am very grateful for the opportunity,” he said.

“I’ll be riding top class machinery with a superb infrastructure behind me which will hopefully enable me to be successful and build on my 2017 results so I can’t wait to get going.”

Ian Moffitt, Team Principal of by Team IMR added: “It’s fantastic to have signed Adam for the 2018 roads season.

“Adam will have a full stable of bikes to compete in the Superbike, Superstock and Supersport classes at the NW200, TT and UGP respectively with the use of our two 2017 BMW S1000RRs as well as Ian Hutchinson’s 2017 front-running Yamaha R6, which will all run on Metzeler tyres for whom we are very grateful for their support.

“Adam will also compete at some of the BSB and national road races throughout the season and we are extremely excited to be working with one of today’s most talented riders in road racing.”
