Manx Grand Prix entries filling fast

MANX Grand Prix entries have been flying into the MMCC race office as chiefs prepare to call curtains this coming Thursday.

Entries for this summer’s road races are set to shut on April 18, but bosses have already fielded hundreds of interest rider requests and are looking set for a bumper August fortnight.

Junior MGP entries currently stack up at 86, while the premier Senior scrap is set to host 83 so far. Over 50 machines have entered the Lightweight race, where they’ll run alongside 26 Ultra Lightweights. And the rising popularity of Moto3 bikes is starting to trickle through with three entered along with two 125cc Grand Prix machines.

Nearly 30 rookies have thrown their hats in the ring for the Newcomer races, with the majority filling the A-race.

Organisers hope to have everything finalised by the end of April, after which all entrants will be contacted.

This year’s Manx Grand Prix opens with practices on Saturday August 17 and ends with the Senior race on Friday August 30.
