Manx GP: Harrison tops Juniors in one-lap qualifying

NATHAN Harrison continued to top Manx Grand Prix proceedings in tonight’s one-lap qualifying as he led the Junior ranks and pipped Stephen Smith for Monday bragging rights.

The Chris Preston/Quayside Tyres rider clocked a 119.05 from a standing start ahead of Slipps Racing man Smith’s 118.81 with the sun playing havoc this evening, but both riders have lapped quicker in previous sessions – Harrison with a 120.67 and Smith with a 119.64. VRS Racing’s Brad Vicars ended this evening third of the Junior riders with a 117.98.

Daniel Ingham topped the MGP Senior leaderboard once again with a 117.49 on his Strangford Holidays machine, while RC Racing’s Marc Colvin and Stonehouse Camping’s Shaun Evans completed tonight’s top three with a 115.38 and a 112.12, respectively.

Italian Francesco Curinga kept his stronghold on the Lightweight ranks with a 113.99 for the Bemar Racing Team, with Irishman Andy Farrell setting a 111.77 on the Ollie’s Place Kawasaki and Outhwaite Plant Hire’s Chris Moore clocking a 110.34 on his TZ250.

Newcomers A leader Pierre-Yves Bian clocked a 113.36 to top the rookie timesheets for the Martimotos squad, beating UWTSD/MotoEng.com man Sam Mousley’s best lap of 111.70 and Andy Wintle HV Earthing rider Mike Mace’s 110.82.

Swiss rider Andrea Majola once again led the Newcomers B ranks at 106.45mph with Basto Transports’ Wayne Bourgeais finishing the night second at 100.61mph.

Falcon Electrical man Tom Snow topped the Ultra Lightweights with his best of the week at 102.11mph as Ribble Valley Grab Hire’s David Murphy pipped Krämer rider Sebastian Witt with a 100.44 to the German’s 100.25.

Snow’s team-mate Andy Jackson set a 96.36 to lead the Newcomers C pack as Jackson Superbikes rider Adrian Skaife finished second in session with a 95.21.

12:15:  Manx Grand Prix Newcomers (A,B) Race (4 laps) and C (3 laps)

14:45:  Manx Grand Prix Senior and Junior Qualifying (2 laps)

15:30:  Manx Grand Prix Lightweight / Ultra Lightweight Qualifying (2 laps)

16:45:  Roads scheduled to open around the Course
