In Classic, News, Roads

JOEY Thompson will not ride for the John Chapman Racing squad during the Classic TT, it has been revealed tonight.

The Yorkshireman was set to pilot two of Chapman’s 500cc MV Agusta in the Bennetts Senior Classic Race, a 350cc Honda in the Locate.im Junior Classic and a Honda RS250 in the Dunlop Lightweight.

No details of why he has parted company with the team have been released and Thompson is set to remain on the Wilcock Consulting ZXR750, upon which he finished fourth fastest in this evening’s practice.

“I haven’t and wouldn’t ever have walked out on John Chapman Racing,” Thompson said.

“For whatever reasons he has decided he didn’t want me to ride his bikes, which is a shame as I was really looking forward to it and would have given it my everything.

“I am now looking forward to riding the Wilcock Consulting Superbike.”
