JOHN Chapman is set for a busy Classic TT campaign as he pulls the wraps off his three-rider lineup for next month’s races.
His Lincolnshire squad will be led by Isle of Man veteran and road racing stalwart Ian Lougher, who will be joined by the returning Joey Thompson and Manxman Dan Sayle.
Lougher heads back to the Mountain Course eyeing a return to winning ways after victory in the 2014 Senior race among six Classic TT podiums to his name, the joint highest in event history.
Thompson, who was formerly part of Lougher’s stable at Team ILR, will partner the Welshman aboard a pair of 500cc MV Agustas in the Bennetts Senior Classic TT Race while the Yorkshireman will also ride a 350cc Honda in the Locate.im Junior Classic as well as a Honda RS250 in the Dunlop Lightweight race.
The 21-year-old is gearing up for his return to Manx shores after a nearly year-long layoff from road racing action, but will be eyeing a strong finish after taking fifth-place in the Lightweight last year on the same Honda he’ll ride next month.
Sayle, meanwhile, is set to make a comeback to the races that took him out of action with a serious injury 12 months ago as he returns aboard a Honda RS250.
The former outfit star, Sidecar TT and Manx Grand Prix winner was in doubt if he would ever race again after the 2018 Classic TT crash, but is now set to return and after looking like a favourite for the podium last year, plenty of eyes will be on the Sulby man.
