BIRCHALL brothers Ben and Tom cruised to their seventh Isle of Man TT Sidecar victory on the trot today as they won by over 20sec.
The Haith LCR squad controlled the action from start to finish while SBR boys John Holden and Lee Cain fell short once again.
It was an early fight between leaders the Birchalls and race one bridesmaids John and Lee in the shortened two-lap scrap as the two ran less than a second apart as Holden and Cain clocked the quickest sector time to Ballaugh.
But the Birchalls extended their advantage by nearly two seconds by the time they hit Ramsey and when they passed the Bungalow, they’d already grabbed another three seconds to bolster their leading margin.
While they looked on for another podium finish, Alan Founds and Jake Lowther were forced to stop near Sarah’s Cottage to make adjustments, allowing Pete Founds and Jevan Walmsley to slot through in to third before the race one rostrum men eventually retired.
Back at the front, the Birchalls crossed the line to begin the second and final lap with 10sec to spare and a 118.380mph lap in the bag.
And they continued to power ahead as they crossed the line with over 20sec to spare ahead of Holden and Cain as the Birchalls drew level with Rob Fisher on all time Sidecar wins, while Rowtec Suzuki pair Founds and Walmsley bagged their second TT podium.
Retirements included Harrison/Winkle, Founds/Lowther and Rayner/Campbell.
