AT LEAST seven newcomers are set to make their debuts at the Radcliffe’s Post TT Road Races in June, directly following the Isle of Man TT fortnight.
Among the event’s freshman will be Welshman Mark Purslow, who will make his Billown course debut aboard a 650 Kawasaki supertwin and a BMW S1000RR for ECTA Racing.
Cheshire’s Daniel Capper, who scored two podium finishes in the Thundersport GB Stocktwins class at the recent Donington Park round, will also be taking his maiden voyage around the Castletown circuit.
Flying the flag for Suzuki in the 600 class will be their Merseyside neighbour Stephen Smith, as well as Ramsey native and Jurby regular with the Andreas Racing Association, Laurence Cummins.
Alongside them in the same class,Paul Mackey and David McConnachy are set to represent the Geordie contingent of the paddock, the former on a Kawasaki and the latter on a Yamaha – hoping to get even closer to the limit in 2017 (see right)…
Increasing the tally of road races on his season’s fixture list is McConnachy’s fellow County Durham racer and Scarborough regular Kevin Barsby, who will also be in action among the middleweights aboard a Triumph 675.
Manx Grand Prix Newcomers A bronze medallist Darren Cooper looks set to bring his Isle of Man road racing experience to the event, along with fellow Lancastrian Tony Leach.
“It is very encouraging to receive this number of newcomers entries in the early entries for the Post TT races, especially from off Island,” said Race Secretary George Peach. “There are also a good number of the established regulars entered, which will keep the fans on their toes on race day.”
Practice for the 2017 Radcliffe’s Butchers Post TT Road Races takes place between 13:00 and 16:00 on Saturday, June 10, with a three-race programme commencing at 17:00.
