Former winners set to return for Pre-TT Classics

In News, Roads, Southern 100

SEVEN former winners have already thrown their hats into the ring to battle it out for honours in this year’s Blackford’s Pre-TT Classic Road Races.

With a month left before entries close, multiple winners and newcomers alike have already entered the event, which will be held over the weekend May 26-29.

Leading the charges this year will be Mike Hose, who won last year’s Office Equipment Centre 350cc Singles Race to take his win tally around the Billown course to an impressive 14.

This year, he is looking to boost that number as he contests all six solo races.

Mark Herbertson and Rich Hawkins, who finished second and third respectively in last year’s 350cc race, have also submitted entries once again.

Event regular Alan Oversby, who won the Manx Environmental Services 350cc Junior battle last year, is also returning this year, and will be looking to add to his 12 previous wins with his brace of Davies Motorsport Hondas.

Ulster boys Barry Davidson and Barry Mateer will step up the friendly rivalry once more as they line up in the Quine and Cubbon Printers 250cc Lightweight race.

Last year’s Support Race winner Rob Mitchel-Hill is returning to defend his crown aboard his 750 Kawasaki race winner, and will also be competing on a Drixton Honda.

Among this year’s newcomers are Jim Barnett who has entered the Junior race, Terence Sansom in the Junior Post Classic, David Matravers who has entered a 500 Paton in two events and David Linsdell who has entered four classes on Ducati and Seeley machines.

David Tetley will pilot a 350cc Aermacchi in two races, Michael Hand has entered a 750 Kawasaki in Post Classic Superbikes and Andrew Thomas and Joanne Clements will race a 750MRE Sidecar outfit.

Entries for this year’s Pre-TT Classic races close on March 30, 2017. For more information visit
