The English national team fought their way to the final part of the World Cup for the 16th time in their history. In the list of the top scorers of the qualifying stage in Europe, he shared the first place with Memphis Depay from the Netherlands.

Rivals of England at the 2022 World Cup

As the result of the 2022 World Cup draw, England got into group B with the USA, Iran and Wales. The Three Lions have quite a contradictory history of confrontation with these teams.

The English have met with their closest neighbours from Wales numerous times – both in friendly and official games; but the majority of these matches belong to the 20th or even the 21st century. For the past 20 years, the teams have met only 6 times, and England always won. The England national team have played two official matches with the USA at the world championships; the results are a 1:1 draw and a 0:1 defeat. On November 21, the game against Iran will be the first in the history of these two national teams.

Currently, England is in the top 5 of the world ranking, and according to most experts and betting companies, the team is unlikely to have any problems with reaching the Round of 16.
