RIDERS as young as five years old will now be permitted to line up on the grid in one of FAB Racing’s most popular classes.
The air-cooled minimotos of the AC40 Rookies championship, which traditionally includes riders from age six to 13, will now look to attract even younger talent with its rule change for 2021.
From this season, riders age five and a half who have chalked up the required marks will now be allowed to line up alongside some of the quickest rising stars in the country.
A statement from FAB Racing detailed the new regs:
Riders five years and six months of age that have completed training to a sufficient level at the FAB-Racing / Minimoto Racing Academy will be able to be entered for pre-event practice at a FAB-Racing race event.
During those pre-event practice sessions FAB-Racing will assess their ability to take part in the Rookie class of the actual event.
If then allowed to take part assessment will continue during the event and, if any concerns are raised, they will not be permitted to continue for their and others safety.
For their first events, including Friday practice, all new Rookies will be required to wear a Hi-Viz bib.
