Final round of British F2 Sidecars cancelled

THE final round of the British F2 Sidecar Championship due to take place at Brands Hatch next weekend has been cancelled due to lack of entries.

The FSRA has today released a statement explaining that the event, which was due to take place at the Kent track over the weekend October 8 and 9, has had to be pulled because only nine entries were received.

The statement reads:

“The FSRA announces the cancellation of the final round of the British F2 Sidecar Championship at Brands Hatch on October 8-9.

This difficult decision has been taken in the light of only nine entries having been received.

The organising Club, Bemsee has waited and extended the closing date over the last couple of days. Committee Members from the FSRA contacted many teams over these two days and it was clear entries were not going to be forthcoming.

Some riders may now choose to support the Ian Bell Memorial meeting being held over the same weekend at the East Fortune circuit.

The points tables as published after the Croft round will be the final Series outcome for 2016.

It’s disappointing that the Series has ended without a final round. The FSRA apologises to teams who did enter this final round. However it is also recognised that this season has had a number of low-points for the sport as a whole and for individual teams.

The Association hopes that we can all get through these times and look forward to a better season in 2017.”
