REIGNING champions of the Pre-TT Classic Road Races are set to return as Southern 100 chiefs field a heft of early entries.

The Colas Billown Course season opener has already brought in nearly 100 entries just two weeks on from opening admission.

With 20 riders so far set to tackle the Senior 500cc class, 19 for the Junior 350cc, 18 for the 250/350cc Singles and 16 for the 850cc ranks, the event is set to be a bumper nine-race programme.

Will Loder, Alec Whitwell, Barry Davidson, Lightweight podium man Jeff Ward and reigning 850cc race winner Steve Ferguson have already confirmed their returns.

Meanwhile in sidecar city, last year’s double-winner Eddy Wright will be back in action along with Howard Langham, Wal Saunders and rostrum finisher Tony Thirkell.

The Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic Road Races are set to hit the track on Friday, Saturday and Monday 24-27 May.
