Costello partners Stokoe for Sidecar TT assault

LADY racer Maria Costello is set for another three-wheeled assault on the Isle of Man TT as she joins passenger Sarah Stokoe for 2020.

The two are gearing up to take on the Mountain Course this summer as an all-female sidecar squad as they look to build on past results.

Costello, a Classic TT and Manx Grand Prix podium finisher, made her IOMTT outfit debut last season alongside experienced chairwoman Julie Canipa as the two chalked up a top-20 finish with a best lap of 102.671mph.

Stokoe, meanwhile, also made her competitive Sidecar TT debut in 2019 alongside driver Michael Jackson – but the pair’s fortnight ended with a crash at Tower Bends.

But the two are hoping to take big strides forward this season as they begin the hunt for signatures.

“I think it’s a fitting day to announce that I will again be setting up an all female sidecar team to compete at the Isle of Man TT this year and I’m super stoked to share the news that I will be joined again by the brilliant passenger Sarah Stokoe,” Costello said as she announced the news on International Women’s Day yesterday.

“I’ve been fortunate to build a career in this sport and I’m so happy to see more and more opportunities open up to women who ride and see the numbers of women competing increasing in all disciplines and in all areas of expertise and supporting roles.”
