BRAD Jones finally bucked the 2020 Quattro British Supersport trend as he halted Rory Skinner’s win streak this afternoon.
The Tysers Yamaha boys led the entire 12-lap sprint race this afternoon, but it was last year’s championship runner-up who held off the Scotsman to take his first win of the season by just 0.055sec.
When the lights went out it was Jones who looked to be quickest to Old Hall, but Skinner swept around the outside with ease as he slotted into the lead while Lee Johnston and Jamie Perrin tucked into third and fourth.
With just three laps in the bag, the quartet was a full 1.5sec clear of Harry Truelove in fifth as Jones continued to look for a way through on his compatriot.
Johnston stuck a pass on Jones head into Lodge only for Jones to hit straight back at Old Hall on lap four as Skinner began to edge away at the front.
But Skinner was caught and squeezed back to second as Jones finally found a way ahead before his team-mate slid back underneath at Island Bend.
The battle wasn’t over, however, and Jones took the lead again at Lodge on lap 10, but Skinner made the exact same move as they headed onto the penultimate lap.
And with just one lap to go, Jones made the same move to retake the lead, holding off Skinner with a defensive move at Lodge to steal victory by no more than a bike length.
Meanwhile in the battle for the remaining podium spot, Truelove put himself onto the box with a late charge to move ahead of Ashcourt Racing’s Johnston and Perrin.
