LEE Crawford and Scott Hardie took the fight to the big boys as they powered to their maiden Molson Group British Sidecar win this morning.
The Team ARC duo powered ahead of the long-bike-dominated grid on their short-wheelbase F2 machine to upset the applecart and beat Tommy Philp and Tom Bryant by less than a bike length.
Pole-sitters Crawford and Hardie launched into the lead as the pack hit Redgate, leading the charge as Philp and Bryant
While Holland and Christie got the better of Founds and Walmsley for third, just behind it was a battle for fifth as Phil Bell and James Connell pipped Steve Kershaw and Ryan Charlwood.
With just over four laps remaining, Crawford and Hardie had stretched almost a 2.5sec advantage over Philp and Bryant and the gap continued to grow.
But with the track drying out, Crawford and Hardie’s advantage began to come down and with just over a lap remaining, Roberts Constructions/Tops Autos pair Philp and Bryant had just 1.1sec to make up.
And despite a thrilling battle in the final few corners on the very last lap, Crawford and Hardie held on by a mere 0.168sec to nick the win.
Holland and Christie rounded out the podium while Founds and Walmsley and Kershaw and Charlwood completed the top five.
