BSB Supports – Brands Hatch: Josh Day defends Ducati Cup crown

In BSB Support, News

JOSH Day put two hands on the 2020 Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup trophy this morning as he defended his championship crown.

As his title rival Levi Day pipped rookie Elliott Pinson to victory, it was Host-it.co.uk Racing’s two-time champ who sprayed the champagne with enough points to comfortably claim the one-make Cup.

At the start, it was David Shoubridge who was the quickest to Paddock Hill as he took the lead from Levi and Pinson with series leader Josh way down in sixth.

But Levi wasted no time in levering AH Performance man Shoubridge aside at Hawthorn to take the lead as Pinson followed him through while Craig Neve, Sam Cox and Dijon Compton slotted into the top six ahead of Josh.

By lap five, Symcirrus/Massingberd Mundy’s Pinson had cut through to the front past Aussie Day as last year’s British Junior Supersport champ took control.

Levi continued to look for a way through on the teen at Surtees as he stuck his nose through, but Pinson slammed the door and kept the title challenger from taking over with two laps remaining.

With just over a lap to go, Levi forced his way ahead at Stirlings and held off the 17-year-old to take victory by just over three tenths of a second.

CN Racing man Neve pipped Shoubridge by just 0.091sec to take the final rostrum spot, while champ Josh Day crossed the line in a lone fifth to secure his second title.
