BPS Racing’s Levi Day kept his title hopes alive as he forced the Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup battle to the wire with victory in race one.
The Australian beat points leader Josh Day by more than a second as the fight for the crown will now go down to tomorrow’s season finale.
But it was Josh who grabbed an early lead as Dijon Compton tucked in behind from the off. Before long, however, it was soon Levi who moved up to second with just a few laps in the bag.
As Symcirrus/Massingberd Mundy rider Elliot Pinson and Old Garage Legends’ David Shoubridge slotted into the top four, the fight was on for the top spot as Josh and Levi diced for the win.
But a few laps from the finish, it looked to be potential disaster for Host-it.co.uk Racing’s Josh as he appeared to suffer a mechanical problem, forcing him to drop his advantage as Levi moved through into the lead.
The Days jostled for position with the laps winding down and with a Levi victory forcing the championship decider on to tomorrow, Josh sat behind the Aussie as the points runner-up chipped a few more off the race to the crown with 25 points ahead of the defending champ.
Pinson took a lone third some six seconds further adrift, while Shoubridge and Compton rounded out the top five.
