BSB star Cooper set for busy weekend of club racing

BENNETTS British Superbike race winner Richard Cooper admitted he’s excited to get back to club racing less than a week after his final race win at Brands Hatch.

The Buildbase Suzuki rider, who triumphed in this Sunday’s downpour in Kent to take his first BSB victory in over two years, is straight back in the saddle this weekend as he packs his schedule with action at both Bishopscourt , where he’ll make his Sunflower Trophy Races debut, and the Race of the Year at his team’s home base of Mallory Park.

But less than a fortnight on from his fifth Stars at Darley Moor win and even after standing on the top step of the British championship podium, Coopes says he’s happy to get back to clubland.

“There’s less faffing about and more riding in the clubs,” he told UK Clubsport. “We’re at BSB for four days, where as we’re going to turn up to the Sunflower, practice Friday morning, race Friday afternoon, race Saturday, come back, qualify Sunday morning at Mallory and race Sunday afternoon. Done.

“We won the Stars last weekend and I know there weren’t that many people there, but we did what we needed to do. And now I’m really looking forward to the Sunflower on Saturday then Mallory Park’s Race of the Year. I’m really excited about it.”
