ANTHONY Johnson is gearing up for his first foray into the British Superbike paddock as he takes on the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 series at Snetterton this weekend.
The Bemsee Powerbikes ace, who has already won seven of the 11 races this year, has decided to forgo the club’s round at Donington in a bid to see where he stacks up against some of the fastest riders in the country.
Johnson’s Superstock debut comes less than a month after beating reigning Powerbikes champ Joe Morphett to two wins from three at the same circuit, but the current points leader says he’s taking a different approach as he jumps into the BSB Support Series tomorrow.
“I think all we can do is just try and learn as much as possible really,” he told UK Clubsport. “If we get a good qualifying that would be great, then we can try get in a group and push in from there. If I can even get close to the points I will be happy.
“Obviously I am gutted to be missing the Bemsee round, but I did plan on doing Snet at the start of the season so it would be a shame to not do it – but it would’ve been good if they were on separate weekends.
“I hope we have a good run at the weekend because we need to be in the British paddock next year.”
