ADAM Hartgrove got his National Superstock prep off to a flying start at Oulton Park this weekend as he made a clean sweep of the Team Respro MRO 600s.
And it wasn’t just a couple of Bemsee trophies that the youngster brought home – he completed his full house by demolishing the existing club lap record by 1.283sec.
Hartgrove was in control from the off, qualifying almost half a second clear of Michael Evans on the Wilcock Consulting Honda, while reigning Team Green Senior Cup champ Jamie Kelman completed the front row aboard his Triumph.
Evans was quickest out of the gates, pulling a nearly 1.3sec lead on Hartgrove on the very first lap as Kelman and Mark Piper followed closely behind.
But Hartgrove began slicing away at the Manxman’s advantage and found a way through on lap five as he powered ahead to a nearly 1.5sec win, while Cameron Fraser bagged third.
In race two, Hartgrove wasted no time getting out front, pulling a half-second gap on Evans at the start and setting about a furious pace, clocking a 1:41.920 on his way to a clear four-second victory over Evans as Fraser secured anther podium finish.
East Midlands Superbikes’ Scott Stevens followed suit and did the double in the MSS Performance Clubman 600 class, beating nearest challenger Michael White by a combined margin of over 40sec across the day as he too laid down the new class lap record.
