Barry Sheene Classic: Crawford and Hardie cruise to Sidecar win

In News, Oliver's Mount, Roads

LEE Crawford and Scott Hardie picked up where they left off in late 2017 with the opening Sidecar race win of the weekend at Oliver’s Mount.

The Team ARC duo, who were the last outfit winners at the 2017 Gold Cup, dominated today’s final race on the Saturday programme and now look like clear favourites to make a clean sweep with two races on the cards tomorrow.

Crawford and Hardie got the jump on the field from the start as they led Conrad Harrison and Andy Winkle after lap one, but by lap three John Lowther and Tom Christie had powered into second place and began chopping a few tenths a lap off the leading pair’s 7.3sec advantage.

But it was never enough to stop Crawford and Hardie, who powered across the line with over four seconds to spare as Lowther and Christie bagged second.

Harrison and Winkle took the final podium spot over seven seconds adrift, while Michael Kirkup and Arlo Brown beat Michael Russell and Tom Bryant to fourth.
