AUTO 66 racers dashed through the downpours this weekend as they braved severe weather conditions and forged ahead with Round One.
And while club officials ultimately decided that the rain and standing water would prove too much to continue racing on Bank Holiday Monday at Cadwell Park, solo and sidecar competitors had their first points-scoring opportunities of the season when action went ahead on Easter Sunday.
David Jackson doubled up in the Senior scraps, leading every lap of both races on the way to two wins while Jonathan Lodge and Mark Goodings diced for second.
Goodings got the better of the defending Count of Cadwell champ on the final lap of race one, but Lodge bagged second in race two ahead of Stephen Degnan.
Junior spoils looked to be going the way of Joe Miller after he led nearly the entire first 600cc race, but Goodings made a pass on the final lap and stole victory as Ben Wotton took third. In race two, however, Wotton found clear track and cruised to victory nearly six seconds clear of Miller and Toby Shann.
Reigning FSRA British F2 champions Pete Founds and Jevan Walmsley took an early lead in the first Sidecar battle after passing Lee Crawford and Scott Hardie, and held on to take the win from the Team ARC duo, with Sam and Adam Christie in third.
But the Christies, fresh off an Anglesey clean sweep, nicked the final race win of the weekend from Founds and Walmsley as Daryl Gibson and Ashley Moore completed the podium.
Michael Hand dominated the combined Lightweight/Super Lightweight/Classic Superbike race one, powering his Yamaha OW01 750 home nearly nine seconds ahead of SV650-mounted Pete Boast and ZXR400-mounted Russell Stokes.
But with Hand missing from race two, Boast bagged top honours with a comfortable win over fellow 650 riders Daniel Good and Richard Saville.
